UnitedLinux was formed by Caldera, Conectiva, SUSE LINUX
and Turbolinux to build a single, world-wide Linux standard
that customers and partners could work with for world-class,
enterprise deployment of Linux. We believe that we achieved
the desired impact. With the release of UnitedLinux version
1.0 in November 2002, we delivered on our vision. Many IHVs
and ISVs joined the UnitedLinux initiative -- providing customers
with a real choice of Linux environments.
We believe that the mission of UnitedLinux has been accomplished.
Connectiva, SUSE LINUX and Turbolinux continue to support, and
maintain products powered by UnitedLinux. Conectiva, SUSE LINUX
and Turbolinux also continue to market their respective UnitedLinux
distributions and are working together to enhance the capabilities
of the UnitedLinux based system. Each of the three companies
will support its customers throughout the lifecycle of version
1.0. There are no plans for a version 2.0 at this time.
Organizations interested in products powered by UnitedLinux
should contact Conectiva,
SUSE LINUX, and Turbolinux
